Lanvin - Spring 2008 (RTW)

The start of the show cemented the possibility that Alber Elbaz will not be showing color this season, with heavy, worn, wooden planks assembled as a runway and models showcasing brilliantly draped, goddess, gowns, one was satisfied, however color burst on to the faded ramp creating a stir, unexpected and completely stark to the gowns seen just a moment ago, flapper inspired mini dresses in deep shades of chocolate brown, coral and canary yellow followed along with baby-doll dresses with ruffled necklines and bejeweled accents. Each piece showcased a different style and this dazzling inconsistency showcased a variety of startling gowns in billowing proportions creating “a drape caught in the wind” effect. Elbaz enhanced pieces with a touch of plumage and accessorized his creations with spectacular jeweled necklaces and slim belts. Elbaz’s show emerged as “the” show of spring 08 by capturing the essence of spring through color, having the “must have accessories of 08” and providing the general with wearable extremes.
