The “Dynamic Duo” brought a lot to the table with their Fall 2009 collection. There was a definite lack of color in the beginning, but as the show progressed, fuschias, light pinks and dangerous reds brightened up the runway. It was a show that focused on texture with the sense of touch explored; silky satins, hard leather, comfortable quilted fabrics and the ingenious use of woven ribbons for dinner jackets which was truly the highlight of the show. Once again Dolce & Gabbana made fantastic jackets which came in a number of interesting avatars; the wood grain print jacket with oriental knot buttons, the mentioned “woven ribbons” jackets and a black jacket with a large brocade print. With glam additions such as velvet bow ties and satin slip-ons, Dolce & Gabbana sent out a message that forgoing luxury was not the way to go, even during such trying times!
