Jean Paul Gaultier – fall crt 2007

One can expect Gaultier of giving the couture world a wild show and this time he drew inspiration from fairytale characters where princes rescue damsels and fantasy becomes reality. The show started off with a military theme; with sleek military inspired tailoring and an overall sense of masculinity that ruled the runway. This style soon morphed into a look, embracing flowy feminine gowns, which were topped off with extravagant headdresses, some in the shapes of crowns. The collection took a turn from the military aesthetics and soon pieces that would fit the taste of royalty belonging to exotic nations ruled the runway with luxurious fabrics, dramatic cuts along with heavy embroidery and royal colors. References that seem to have been drawn form the golden age of the Mughals this reference clearly seen when an androgynous male model outfitted in the bridal attire fit for an Indian queen ended the show
