Alexander McQueen - Fall 2007

Alexander McQueen’s muse transported him to the ancient world were he captured a glimpse of Cleopatra, Achilles’ armor, the excess and sexual ravishment of Dionysus’ orgies, Egyptian concubines, Ivan Hoe and damsels accused of being witches awaiting their death at the steak, each piece on that runway told a story, a merging of cultures and this brought about a collection with lavish embellishments, daring cuts, and an over all sense of darkness which was draped over each model blessed by the “Eye of Horus”. McQueen sure channeled his dark side with a show filled with pagan symbols and clothes that seemed to have been born from the sets of Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s ‘Cleopatra’.
