Cate Blanchett pour Vanity Fair (FEB 09)
Shiny Trophy favorite Cate Blanchett graces the February 09 cover of Vanity Fair. Photographer: Annie Leibovitz
Here’s a snip-bit from the interview:
On not ruling out more babies: “Who knows? Don’t close those doors. The world is very overpopulated, but we do make nice ones. They all look like [my husband Andrew Upton]. To say he has dominant genes would be an understatement.”
On signing a three-year contract with Australia’s leading theater: “Andrew had worked closely with the company, and when the idea came up he was wondering if it was something we wanted to do together. The opportunity presented itself, and it would have been utter I’m not a spokesperson against the world of injectables. If you grow up in an environment where your mother gets you a boob job when you turn 18, what hope is there? But I didn’t grow up in that world. The reason I went to train as an actor was that I was interested in it for the long haul. You can become very self-obsessed, but you’ve got to keep looking outward.”
On keeping a careful distance from Hollywood: “I don’t exist in that world. I observe it, but there’s so much else to be thinking about. Maybe it’s because I’m with someone who’s not with me because of that; I’m not a trophy. He likes the vessel, but he also wants to make sure the vessel is full. The world of film can be so noisy, but the other aspects of my life are actually the noisiest parts of my life. My best friends are a social worker and a visual artist.”
Cate plays Brad Pitt’s soulmate in their latest movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in theaters now.

The fall of America ’s sweetheart!? - "A Gentleman betrayed by his Quarterly"
Fetchies, I stand before you a Gentleman betrayed by his Quarterly. The Jennifer Aniston cover made me weep tears of molten iron. It's a dual tragedy: For starters, I have reason to believe that GQ may be having a mid-life crisis what with all their casual references to 'Asian whores' and the garishly done Megan Fox cover and secondly, the fall of Jennifer Aniston...woe is me! Woe to mankind.
Like any red-blooded male, I do enjoy eye-candy. Insert clause: as long as it is tastefully done. I shall refrain from talking about the Megan Fox travesty since her strategically placed tattoos and tales of teenage lesbianism do not a thing for me or anyone with an inherent sense of good taste. Now the Adriana Lima cover...wow...But I am digressing yet again!
I have always found Jennifer Aniston deliciously sexy, to the point where she became a sort of girlfriend ideal: the hip, armed with a disarming smile and witty rejoinder city girl who works at Ralph Lauren. So unlike the Gwyneths, Nicoles and Evas who bedazzle with their ethereal perfection, turning one's judgment to jelly. Jen had style but she was approachable, she was someone you could hang out with on the red carpet, as ludicrous as that may sound. The jeans, the sweaters, the hair, the ineffable charm that made men swoon. 'Had'. Past tense.
When did this happen?
Why did this happen?
Oh Jen! I miss you! Why do you insist on reinventing yourself as 'a cougar'? Why would you even associate yourself to something like that? You, who were radiant in that bundle of silliness called 'Rumour Has It', why do you want us to see you in this way? In this...*gulps*...trashy new avatar: denuded and nestled comfortably betwixt a bevvy of douchebaggy male models. And why would you say that Angelina Jolie is 'uncool' and that too now? You know what is truly 'uncool'? 'Uncool', that's what! Come back Jen, we miss the effervescent, affable you.

Hugh to NYC for Christmas!
The 40-year-old actor caught a departing flight to New York City out of LAX airport in Los Angeles on Friday. Hugh will be spending Christmas in the Big Apple! He has said, “I’m going to be in New York with my family. I’ll be going to the Nutcracker, I’ll be going to Rockefeller Plaza, I’ll be going to the Rockettes, maybe catch a Knicks game or two…. I’ve just been at home [in Australia] for two years straight, so I’ll be okay. But I actually like the snow. I like the cold – it’s all different, it’s all a novelty to me.”
And if you haven’t heard yet, Hugh will be hosting the Oscars next year!

Burberry S/S 09 - by Mario Testino
From Burberry S/S 09 : Lily D, Eden, Emily H., Alexina G. & Richard W. by Mario Testino |
Burberry has gone back to nature for spring, with an ad campaign shot on location at Petersham Nurseries, the posh garden center outside London that boasts a restaurant with dirt floors. The campaign, shot in color, breaks in the February issues of magazines including Vanity Fair, Vogue and W in the U.S., and in Esquire, GQ and Harper’s Bazaar in the U.K. The campaign was designed by Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey and shot by Mario Testino. Models Lily Donaldson, Eden Clarke, Alexina Graham and Richard Wyndham slouch and pout alongside actor Alex Pettyfer; musicians George Craig and Sam Beeton; and photographer Emily Hope against a background of greenery. Burberry has focused on outerwear — consistently a big seller — as well as the newly expanded denim and sport collections, jewelry and shoes. The Gardener Bag makes its debut in the campaign. “I wanted the mood to be gentle, relaxed, romantic and about a quiet, beautiful sense of luxury,” said Bailey. “This campaign highlights the spirit of our wonderfully crumpled classics.” — S.C. "Twilight" movie review
So Twilight … we all read the book here at FETCH! and loved the series and then came the movie which we all saw too and it was good!?
I went to see Robert Pattinson and Cam Gigandet and I was happy because I got my fix but beyond the obvious eyecandy, Twilight did not completely disappoint … sure I felt a lot more could have been done about the pace of the film and there were some bits that lacked continuity but on the whole it provided for some excellent viewing.
The backdrop of the sleepy, cold wet forks seemed to mirror the weather here in Dubai... the day Twilight released it was raining cats and dogs and that added to the whole atmosphere!
Twilight manages to make you “feel” the cold the growing tension between Bella and Edward … that “oh my god my crush positively detests me” thing we girls do to our selves! Its all captured pretty eloquently … Kristen Stewart plays her part as the klutzy teen trying to make the best out off a not so great situation … Robert plays the bad boy/ oh right VAMPIRE! And he does it well! (sigh!)
I wanted the other Cullens to show up more! They all look so pretty and they did their parts well so no complaints there … the sound track is to die for... perfect mood music! … slightly emo at times but absolutely worth the buy! Paramore’s “Decode”, Muse’s “Supermassive Black Hole” and Mutemath's "Spotlight" were some of my favorites!
So am sure you all watched it so … go watch it again!
I would give it a 4 out of 5

Proenza Schouler Bags!!!
Its old news now (it happened in November) but its still exciting the latest venture by fashion’s cuties Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough is off course their handbag line!
The awesome twosome hosted a dinner to celebrate their new handbag line.
It was inevitable really, McCollough noted. “Whenever we’re doing our drawings for collections, the girls always have bags on their hands, shoes on their feet, sunglasses on their faces,” he explained. “It kind of completes the look.” Nearby, Simon Doonan (Barneys played co-host) indulged in some horn-tooting before dinner was served. “It’s utterly luscious and utterly exquisite,” he cooed, stroking a white python clutch from the PS1 line. “That whole thing of those girls on Gossip Girl carrying gigunda purses, that’s very déjà,” Doonan sniffed, barely noticing Proenza-ites Chloë Sevigny and Mary-Kate Olsen filtering past. “All that hellish rummaging, and there are, like, terrorists living in them.”
Comme des Garçons - wallet
Who said that men’s wallets should be devoid of detailing! … I guess the key to such things is to be subtle … so here we have the leather star embossed wallet, $280, available at Comme des Garçons … clean lines … retro and that tiny bit of leather trim attached to the zipper is absolutely charming!
Where do I get it!?: 520 W. 22nd St., NYC, (212) 604-9200

Jennifer Aniston pour GQ
Jennifer Aniston strips down to a patriotic red, white and blue necktie in the January 2009 issue of GQ. More interview snippets:
On currently working on a film called Pumas about two “aspiring cougars”: It is so a comment on the sexual double standard, and what’s been ironic is how hard it’s been to get this movie made. Studios want it, but they are afraid of Middle America. They’d want to change it; they’re saying, ‘Oh, you can’t do that, people just can’t imagine you …”
On a a disturbing problem in Hollywood: “Look, I think all women on some level just want to rage against the machine. There are too many movies out there that don’t empower women, movies in which their only way of being happy is finding a man. And you know, that’s not my favorite theme.”

Annie Leibovitz reinvents Romeo and Juliet
Annie Leibovitz does it again! Oh the clothes - brilliant! Hey take a Shakespearean classic add some La Croix and why not an incredible posterior thanks to Roberto Bolle and you have pure, orgasmic art with epic proportions!
The photo spread stars Coco Rocha (love her!) and dancer Roberto Bolle (drool) as Romeo and John Lithgow (?).
Roberto Bolle the 33-year-old male ballet dancer has also made male modeling appearances for Salvatore Ferragamo and the Gap. But wait, there's more. He is also a goodwill ambassador for Unicef, and has his own touring dance group (Roberto Bolle and Friends will make its U.S. debut early next year at the Rose Theater in New York). The complete story appears in the December 2008 issue of Vogue, which features Jennifer Aniston on the cover.
