Dolce & Gabbana – spring 2008 (RTW)
Experimenting with fabrics, cuts, and silhouettes truly paid off for the “Dynamic Duo” for they created a collection that embodied the essence of spring. There was an immense selection of shirts, de-structured jackets, crinolined dresses, caban coats, and a great rendition of their signature flared trousers. They played with heavy, cut, velvets and light, transparent, fabrics to create a paradoxical match-up of extremes. Towards the end of the show one noticed a dramatic shift; from loose, light, pale tinted outfits to structured, dramatic, pieces that exploded with color; adorned with delicate, painted, blooms slashed with modernistic, neon, highlights. The pale models accentuated the deep colors seen in what they were wearing with dramatic contrast and in the end, the show climaxed with a range of fantasy ball gowns with the signature Dolce & Gabbana twist. One was convinced that the “Dynamic Duo” justly, mastered their skill.
