Festival City Marina played host to the the First Dubai Dragon Boat Festival and we were there to catch the action ... it was thrilling and loads of sunny fun and finally our favourite team, the US team of "American School" celebrated after wining. More than 50 boats, each measuring approximately 10 metres with ornately carved and painted “dragon” heads and tails competed in the championship .

The world's largest arch bridge

This will be the world's largest arch bridge, with 2000 vehicles set to cross its 12 lanes—per hour, in each direction.

Dubai's Mile-Long Super Bridge construction is set for March for completion in 2012.
At 670 ft. tall, Dubai's next super structure will stand higher than the George Washington Bridge (604 ft.) but fall short of San Francisco's existing Golden Gate Bridge (746 ft.).

Fetch! goes to the dogs!!!

We "the fetchies" visited our furry friends at The 20th Pedigree & Whiskas Dubai Pet Show, held at the Nad Al Sheeba Racing Club... Ady and George's doggy pal - Bruno Von Bone (pictured above) won best in show and loved the special attention he got and later got tired of his fans!
The annual event, launched in 1988, is the biggest such event in the Middle East and gives families a rare opportunity to spend a fun day out with their pets.

Rain, Rain go away ...

Well singing about it, is not going to help ... Dubai has been submerged in rain water, after record breaking down pours hit us over the past three days and this just mean we all need to heed Al gore's warning ... but the real "inconvenient truth" is that we wont be getting out of the house for a long time waaaaa!!!

George in Dubai

George Clooney made sure not one single hair was out of place as he walked the red carpet for the premiere of Michael Clayton at the Dubai International Film Festival. He brought along his girlfriend and although we have gotten used to Sarah on his arm we wanted to pull him as far away from Sharon Stone as possible. Run, George, Run! Luckily it didn't seem to last long. The National Board of Review just named George Best Actor for his role in Michael Clayton so he must be feeling confident about the premiere and upcoming Oscar buzz. Along with this great win, after Dubai George is headed to Rome to be honored with his co-star and good friend Don Cheadle by the Nobel Peace Laureates. Looks like 2007 is going to end on a high note for Clooney - not that he isn't used to the great life.

It has been a whirlwind year for the pop star with his movies, music, and new romance, which is how he landed on Barbara Walters' top 10 list of most fascinating people of 2007. The interview aired last night, and Justin got cute while reflecting about his big year.

6)Midnight Poison - Dior
A new Cinderella is born - the mystery begins when the clock strikes twelve. In a fairytale that only Dior could imagine, this intense new fragrance epitomizes the magical transformation that only a Dior gown can create. Cinderella's metamorphosis as she dons her couture is like the blossoming of the mysterious black rose. The deep blues of the bottle recall not only past Poison bottles, but the sweep of a dramatic ball gown as well. At the stroke of midnight Dior's Cinderella takes flight, leaving only the exquisite trace of her perfume lingering in her wake.

8) Prada tarot cards
prada.com
Your little sister probably loved the seventies-inspired psychedelic-fairyland looks from Prada's new spring collection, but she can't afford those Stevie Nicks–style bell-bottoms—and neither can you, especially if you plan on getting your girlfriend something decent. This moderately priced gift for sis was, shall we say, in the cards.
price upon request, available at select Prada boutiques, (888) 977-1900
9): Prada neon nylon bags
saks.com
So she said she wants something stylish (but not too trendy), functional (but not too big), pop-colored (without being too loud), feminine (without being too saccharine)...riiiiiight. Try this—the new, smaller, nylon version of Prada's popular Bow bag. It comes in suitably festive colors, and the reasonable price is also cause for celebration.
$310, available at Saks, (877) 551-SAKS
10)Dries Van Noten scarf
brownsfashion.com
For fall, scarves are the new bags, and some of them are priced accordingly—Balenciaga has one for $15,000, in case you're feeling overpaid. Dries Van Noten's neckwear is just as stylish, though mercifully cheaper, and the silk print adds some glam to a gift that might otherwise seem too practical.
approximately $198

Oman calls

What to do this summer, in the Dubai? Well...

The Arabian Sultanate of Oman may quickly be losing its "undiscovered" status, but its tiny northern province of Musandam remains deeply under the radar. Extending like a dagger deep into the Strait of Hormuz—pathway for 60 percent of the world's oil—Musandam is an ideal base for sunning, snorkeling, and parasailing. And this property, set to soft-open later this summer on a mile-long stretch of powdery private beach, certainly lives up to its name: Each of its villas and suites comes with its own infinity-edge pool and starts at a hefty 2,400 square feet. Or, if you're more interested in drawing crowds than avoiding them, you can be delivered to the reception desk via the property's own on-site paraglider.
